Choosing the best Lipstick Shade for Your Chocolate Skin!

How do you go about choosing which lipstick colors will look best with your skin complexion? In most cases this is a hit or miss. Either you strut the streets with an amazing lipstick color that looks perfect with your complexion or ...you don't. 9 times out of 10 choosing the wrong lipstick color can be catastrophic. Trust me... nothing will be "on fleek" if you're walking around looking like Bobo the Clown. So, with that said here are some helpful tips in selecting the perfect lippy color as well as color suggestions.

Keep in mind there are various colors and shades for black women with dark skin tones, but not all colors are perfect for every dark skin woman. Consider features like your natural hair color, skin undertones, and eye color. These simple things will help determine the lipstick colors and shades that suit you best.

Nudes/Neutrals

Nudes and neutrals are totally perfect for dark skin girls! If you're looking for a color to make your dramatic eyes pop, then these are the colors you should focus on. The basic idea is to find what suits your skin undertone and eye color. Here are a few excellent Mac cosmetics shades:

Definitely check out: Nars in Chelsea Girls, Clinique Almost in Black Honey. Make sure the brand is long lasting and moist enough to sustain the hydration of your lips.

Red/Corals

You can achieve an instantly glamours look by going for a shade of red. Red is a banging lip color for all complexions! Not only is it romantic and sexy, it adds radiance to dark skin tones by giving it a mysterious and lovely appearance. For chocolate skin try a fiery intense red. Remember this is an extremely bold color which adds warmth and vibrance to our golden brown undertones.

Beauty is Life

If you have already purchased a shade of red lipstick that doesn't go well with your complexion, have no fear! It is okay to mix and match your shades, meaning don't be afraid to blend. You can do the same with other lip colors as well.

By using two different shades of red lipstick you can mix and match until you find what's best for you.  Plus, your lips will be a totally unique shade of red. That's a win win if you ask me!

Plums/Purples:

Purple is definitely my favorite lip color! The best purple lipstick shade you can try is Heroine by Mac. Apply a small amount to make your lips pop! I promise you won't regret it.

A make up free me, with a pop of color. Whats not to love?! BUT if this shade of purple is a bit too bright for you, check out these darker hues.

Pinks

Oh yes we can wear pink too!

Oranges:

Most people are tentative about this color but dark skin can definitely flatter in an orange hue. Browns and deep reds are some of the colors that compliment black skin tones. If you plan on wearing orange lipstick make sure to keep your make up simple. Avoid over doing eyeshadow and liner. If dramatic eyes are your thing a little mascara and eyebrow shadowing will be enough...trust.

So what do you guys think? Do you see any sexy MAC or other brand lipstick colors you're dying to try?

Do you think I should have added more? Let me know!

Good luck on the lippy hunt!

Love,
